PHS Tree Hub

PHS call for volunteers communications will start in early April. Your planting will be posted on our Tree Program's Get Involved page indicating if you need external volunteers. Let Jehane Samaha ([email protected]) know if any updates are needed. For our tips on hosting a volunteer planting check out the Organizing a Community Planting Checklist or Training resources/sessions.

Registration, Waivers & Policies

PHS requires your Tree Tenders planting event volunteers to acknowledge the PHS Volunteer Waiver.   This can be done in advance using our volunteer registration system VolunteerHub (more info below), or on the day of the planting via the PHS sign-in sheet.

PHS Youth Volunteer Policies

  • Volunteers must be age 8 or older. While you may engage volunteers as young as 8, you do not have to— the volunteer role needs to be appropriate for children. (Note: planting tools like large shovels, pick axes, and stake drivers are not appropriate for use by young children.
  • Ages 8-13, a parent/guardian must accompany volunteer (as recommended by Federal Labor Laws). Volunteers may attend a PHS volunteer activity without a parent or legal guardian if the following criteria have been met:
    • The child is accompanied by an adult responsible for the volunteer or volunteer group (school group, scout troop, etc).
    • Each volunteer has a waiver completed by a parent or guardian.
  • Ages 14-17, children may volunteer without a parent/guardian or supervising adult with them. They still need a parent/guardian to complete the waiver.
