“I see positive changes in these guys. Some of them have moved on to jobs at the Water Department, the Convention Center. I see guys saving money to buy homes. They become productive citizens, they put down roots and invest in the communities they live.”

PHS connects those seeking employment in the horticultural and landscape industries. We provide training, job placement, and ongoing support throughout the year.

PHS’s Roots to Re-entry program supports people returning to their communities upon release from the Philadelphia Department of Prisons. The program offers paid training in:

  • Horticulture
  • Landscape maintenance
  • Greenhouse operations
  • Carpentry and masonry

The training also includes job readiness, conflict resolution, health education, and occupational therapy. Upon graduating, PHS provides continued case management support and job placement with partnering.

PHS prioritizes the health and safety of all in the community during this uncertain time. Learn more about our response to COVID-19.
