Interested in becoming an exhibitor?

Anyone can enter the PHS Hamilton Horticourt in the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show! Bring your plants to the Flower Show and enter them for a chance to win a coveted blue ribbon. There are no age limits, and you do not have to be a member of any garden club or horticultural organization. Exhibiting at the Flower Show is a great way for everyone to join PHS in gardening for the greater good.

Bulbs to Grow for the Philadelphia Flower Show

To help you plan your entries in the bulb classes for the 2025 PHS Philadelphia Flower Show, we are announcing the “named” bulbs and new classes now, in advance of the Exhibitor’s Guide. Why not try your hand at growing these bulbs?  

Note: Pot size refers to the inside diameter of the pot. If no dimension is specified, use any size pot that displays the bulbs to best advantage. You may use bulb pans, azalea pots, or standard pots for all bulb classes.  

  • Beginner’s Luck: Narcissus ‘Topolino’ (Div. 1, Trumpet). Pot: 8" or under. Open only to first-time exhibitors in the Bulb classes of the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show. 

  • Novice Class: Any standard Narcissus cv. except ‘Bittern’, ‘Monal’, ‘Rapture’, or ‘Topolino’. Pot: 10" or under. Open only to exhibitors who have not won a Blue ribbon in the Bulb classes of the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show prior to 2025. 

  • Novice Class: Any red or red-and-white Hippeastrum. Open only to exhibitors who have not won a Blue ribbon in the Bulb classes of the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show prior to 2025. 

  • Novice Class: Hyacinthus orientalis ‘Delft Blue’. Pot: 8" or under. Open only to exhibitors who have not won a Blue ribbon in the Bulb classes of the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show prior to 2025. 

  • Youth Class: Hippeastrum (amaryllis), any standard single-flowered bulb. Open only to students in 12th grade or under. 

  • Youth Class: Narcissus ‘Rapture’ (Div. 6, Cyclamineus). Pot: 8" or under. Open only to students in 12th grade and under. 

  • Narcissus ‘Bittern’ (Div. 12, Other Daffodils). Pot: 10" or under. 

  • Narcissus ‘Monal’ (Div. 2, Large Cup). Pot: 8" or under. 

  • Narcissus ‘Tête Bouclé (Div. 4, Miniature). Pot: 8" or under. 

  • Tulipa ‘Apricot Beauty’. Pot: 10" or under. 

  • Tulipa ‘Little Beauty’. Pot: 8" or under. 

  • Tulipa ‘Pretty Princess’. Pot: 10" or under. 

  • Hyacinthus orientalis ‘Woodstock’. Pot: 8" or under. 

  • Iris ‘Rhapsody’. Pot: 6" or under. 

  • Muscari aucheri ‘Ocean Magic’. Pot: 6" or under. 

  • Bulb Garden—Any combination of yellow, blue, and white bulbs, arranged for artistic and horticultural excellence in a pot 12" or under. Bulbs do not need to be grown in the same pot.  

  • Any standard Narcissus cv. except ‘Monal’, ‘Bittern’, ‘Topolino’, or ‘Rapture’. Pot: 8"-10". 

  • Any miniature Narcissus other than ‘Tête Bouclé (as defined by the American Daffodil Society). Pot: 8" or under. Note: The ADS list changes annually; please check it to make sure your entry in this class is classified as a miniature. 

  • Any Tulipa cv. except ‘Apricot Beauty’, ‘Pretty Princess’, or ‘Little Beauty’. Pot: 8" or under. 

  • Any Tulipa cv. except ‘Apricot Beauty’, ‘Pretty Princess’, or ‘Little Beauty’. Pot: 8"-10". 

  • Hippeastrum (amaryllis), any standard single-flowered bulb.  

  • Hippeastrum (amaryllis), any standard double-flowered bulb.  

  • Hippeastrum cybister (amaryllis).  

  • Hippeastrum (amaryllis), miniature.  

  • Hippeastrum (amaryllis), one bulb with attached offsets.  

  • Any Hyacinthus except ‘Woodstock’ or ‘Delft Blue’. Pot: 10" or under  

  • Crocus. Pot: 6" or under. 

  • Galanthus. Pot: 6" or under. 

  • Any other Iris reticulata. Pot: 6" or under. 

  • Any other Muscari. Pot: 6" or under. 

  • Trillium. May have more than one rhizome per pot. 

  • Any other hardy bulb(s), corm(s), rhizome(s), or tuber(s). Pot: 6" or under. 

  • Any other hardy bulb(s), corm(s), rhizome(s), or tuber(s). Pot: 6"-10". 

  • Any other non-hardy bulb(s), corm(s), rhizome(s), or tuber(s); no Clivia. Pot: 6" or under. 

  • Any other non-hardy bulb(s), corm(s), rhizome(s), or tuber(s); no Clivia. Pot: 6"-12". 

  • Bulb Garden grown by a group (school, club, etc.)—Any combination of bulbs, arranged for artistic and horticultural excellence in a pot 12" or under. Bulbs do not need to be grown in the same pot.
