PHILADELPHIA (April 8, 2021) — Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) announces changes to the annual Bloom Philly! decorating contest. Bloom Philly! is a regional competition that invites businesses in the Greater Philadelphia area to join the excitement of the upcoming PHS Philadelphia Flower Show. Large and small businesses throughout the city and suburbs help the non-profit amplify its message by creating festive, flower-filled displays and menu items inspired by the 2021 Philadelphia Flower Show theme, “Habitat: Nature’s Masterpiece.”

2021 presents a new season and new venue for the Philadelphia Flower Show. For the first time in its almost 200-year history, the Show will take place outdoors. Traditionally, held in March to mark the start of the Spring planting season, this year’s Show will be held Saturday, June 5-Sunday, June 13 at FDR Park in South Philadelphia.

The Bloom Philly! contest kicks off on April 26 and goes through May 24. The Bloom Philly! Contest serves two purposes — to raise awareness and attention for the Philadelphia Flower Show and to spread joy and cheer throughout the region by creating beautiful, floral-inspired décor and menu items that pay homage to the Flower Show’s legacy. This year, more than ever, our businesses will spread the excitement, joy and wonder of the annual event, said Sam Lemheney, Chief of Shows and Events for the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.” We can’t wait to see the ingenuity, creativity, and bold style that our businesses imagine for the contest. We expect that our new categories will present far more opportunities to engage businesses than we have ever seen.”

Bloom Philly! has expanded its contest categories with new categories and welcomes participation from food and beverage businesses to enter fun and tasty Flower Show-inspired menu items, streetery décor, virtual events, and short-term pop ups. Collaborations with professional florists and event designers will compete in their own unique category.
