Sparks will be flying when the 2023 PHS Philadelphia Flower Show, "The Garden Electric" opens to the public in less than a week! Returning indoors to the Pennsylvania Convention Center, this year's Show will be brimming with bold floral exhibits, exciting events, and activities for all ages. The idea for the 2023 Philadelphia Flower Show Entrance Garden, “FLORASTRUCK,” originated from a desire to understand why people have long felt the need to communicate through flowers. This year’s Entrance Garden will be barely visible from the outside by a mesh scrim – but once guests enter through the opening tunnel, they will be greeted by a 360-degree, immersive, vibrant floral world. As the first stop in your Flower Show journey, the Entrance Garden is sure to get you feeling the spark of joy and wonder that inspired “The Garden Electric.”
The Flower Show has so much more to see and do beyond just flowers! Pay a visit to David Rubin’s tool collection and discover his assortment of vintage gardening tools and accessories from around the world. Carefully curated and collected over time, this one-of-a-kind collection is truly fascinating. Be sure to visit and explore gardening tools and techniques across various eras!
This year, the PHS Hamilton Horticourt will return in a new, central location within the Show, making it convenient for guests to peruse the numerous best-in-class plants and flowers entered in the PHS competitive classes. This area celebrates the incredible talent of amateur gardeners and showcases some of the most amazing plants of every species and variety – you won’t want to miss the plants that score our judges' coveted Blue Ribbons!
The Design Gallery displays artistic entries from gardeners spanning many categories of floral art and design, including new categories such as forced cut branches, citrus, and new floral arrangement classes. Plus, miniature floral designs are back by popular demand this year alongside botanical jewelry and art, making this area the perfect way to experience flowers and horticulture in a variety of mediums.
Chengdu is the place to go for panda encounters! The Sino American Business & Travel Association has constructed a one-of-a-kind garden complete with a spectacular blooming panda and a delicate bamboo sculpture -- ideal for exciting photo opportunities. Be sure to visit the group's Marketplace stand to meet bamboo artisans, as well as to build your very own bamboo crafts!
The Kids Cocoon and play area allows kids to explore, interact with nature, and take part in kid-friendly activities. This area is down the convention center concourse from the main Flower Show area, and will be open every day. Stop by to enjoy discovery tables, artistic programming, hands-on instruction, and so much more, making it a must-see for families at the Show!
Live music will return to the Flower Show this year, with up to 3 live music performances happening daily! Take a break from perusing incredible exhibits and take a pause to listen to performances by talented artists curated by Philadelphia brass band SNACKTIME! Shows start at 12:00 PM each day.
You can master your DIY skills at Artisan Row with an enhanced creative experience guided by skilled horticulture artisans! Take a detour from soaking in the stunning displays by making a lovely flower or garden-inspired craft that you can bring home with you! Craft a floral crown, pour a flower candle, or create a wearable piece of floral jewelry, and more!
