Tamela Vieira

Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Tamela Vieira is the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of PHS, overseeing a large cross-functional team with a holistic approach to implementing strategy, fiscal responsibility, risk management, operations, and programming. Vieira’s oversight includes leadership for the programmatic arms of PHS encompassing Shows and Events, Public Horticulture, and Healthy Neighborhoods in addition to being responsible for the organization’s financial health. Finance, Information Technology, Human Resources, Operations, and Administration. Her guidance steers known brands such as the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show and the PHS Pop Up Gardens, and Meadowbrook Farm while advancing the essential philanthropic work of PHS’s community gardens, workforce development, vacant land care, and tree canopy programs.   
 

Vieira joined the PHS team in early 2018 as Chief Financial and Administrative Officer. As CFAO, Vieira proved to be a transformative leader.  Among her many accomplishments were securing stimulus funding for the organization during the height of the pandemic, as well as creating a 5-year strategic plan focused on addressing finances and operations to ensure long term stability for the organization. Vieira, will focus on building synergy to deliver on PHS’s Vision 2027 strategic plan that fully commits PHS to using horticulture to advance the health and well-being of the Greater Philadelphia region.  
 

Tamela received her B.A. in Sociology and Comparative Area Studies from Duke University, and her M.S. in Accounting and M.B.A. in Marketing from New York University’s Stern School of Business. She has more than 25 years of experience in forensic accounting, finance, and operations, including more than 15 years of leadership responsibilities at Wharton Executive Education and global banking and consulting organizations. 

 
When not on a baseball field or basketball court (watching, not playing) Tamela can be found hiking in the Wissahickon or digging in the dirt.
