Sally has been a garden educator for over 40 years – first with the Penn State Urban Gardening program and then through PHS’s Philadelphia Green program. She’s dedicated to starting gardens and seeing gardens thrive in our city. Sally even coordinated Seedy Acres, a now permanently preserved garden in Northern Liberties, for 23 years. In her PHS tenure, Sally graduated 45 classes of Garden Tenders, facilitated 15 seasons of Green City Teachers, and has written numerous articles for the Philadelphia Inquirer’s garden column. Her favorite activities include: playing with her grandbaby, foraging, leading hands-on gardening instruction, singing off-color songs, putting power tools into the hands of children, and playing with her grandbaby some more.
