Launched in 2020 with the support of Montgomery County, the PHS Green Resource Center at Norristown Farm Park is located within Norristown Farm Park, a 690-acre state/county park on preserved historic farmland. This PHS Green Resource Center is a three-acre piece of land that includes a two-acre farm, orchard and community garden, greenhouse, historic barn, and a large pavilion with onsite walk-in coolers.
The farm operation grows produce utilizing sustainable agriculture methods for local food pantries, community partners, as well as “Food as Medicine” initiatives. Community-oriented programming and engagement with volunteers are vital parts of the farm, which provide opportunities for the public to engage with their local food system and foster lasting relationships with the community. Our Food as Medicine initiatives provide weekly or biweekly veggie boxes from the farm, nutrition education, culinary literacy, and gardening workshops at community health clinics in the Norristown and Pottstown area.
Montgomery County's Department of Health and Human Services, and Community-Based Care Management; Norristown Sprouts Community Garden; Creative Health Services in Pottstown, and Habitat for Humanity - MontCo/DelCo. PHS is also working closely with Montgomery County community-based organizations and health providers who are direct recipients of the produce grown on the farm.
