Calling all sports lovers! Both locations have added televisions so that you won’t miss your favorite home teams or the 2024 Summer Olympics!

South Street

South Street celebrates its 10-year anniversary in 2024! In honor of this milestone, the garden will feature a special $10 cocktail each month beginning in May, culminating with a birthday bash in September to honor all the fun and memories created over the last decade.

New this season is an expanded menu of frozen cocktails in rainbow hues. Enjoy these refreshing, colorful drinks and cheers to the beginning of the outdoor dining season!

Manayunk

Manayunk has expanded all its plantings to be native North American plants! If you ever wanted to see what different North American forests look like -- including eastern woodlands, an oak savannah, a woodland edge, or a swamp -- come grab a drink and check out the beautiful and environmentally beneficial plantings in this garden.

Food and Beverage

PHS Pop Up Gardens offers a menu that consists of craveable, delicious fare featuring vegetarian, vegan, and meat-based options, plus water bowls and treats for your doggie BFF, ensuring that there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Both gardens will provide creative cocktails, outdoor-perfect frozen drinks, exquisite wines, craft beers, and tasty non-alcoholic options.

Activities and Events

Both locations host bi-weekly activities that include free and ticketed events. Come learn more about the joy of gardening!

Look for the return of our popular Garden Party Series, free concerts put on in partnership with Astral Artists. Come enjoy a variety of classical musicians perform live.

The Pop Up Gardens’ monthly free Plant Swap events will continue to take place on the first Monday in Manayunk and the first Tuesday on South Street. Throughout the season, guests who visit South Street can acquire new plants for their homes thanks to Solo Real Estate, a Center City-based independent real estate company committed to sustainably investing in communities.

Solo Real Estate will be co-hosting the monthly Plant Swaps with giveaways of horticultural favorites such as summer bulbs, flowering annuals, houseplants, succulents, tulips, daffodil bulbs, and more. They will also provide complimentary lettuce blend seeds, tote bags and recycling containers that guests can take home throughout the season. New this year, guests who attend the plant swaps have two chances to enter to win a $50 gift certificate to a plant store of their choice. To enter, post a photo of your #PlantSwapScore tagging @SoloRealEstate and @PHSGardening on Instagram. Winners will be announced in mid-summer and late fall.

Deborah Solo, owner of Solo Real Estate, said, “We’ve been sponsoring the PHS Pop Up Garden on South Street since 2018. We are proud to support the work they do to revitalize vacant land and develop initiatives that contribute to making our city a great place to live.”

For those looking for interactive experiences, several hands-on events will be held throughout the season. Join a botanical watercolor class where you can discover your inner artist or take a composting class to learn how to turn trash into garden treasure. These and other fun ways to gather, learn, and build community are available all season long at no or low cost to guests.
