Visit the PHS Pop Up Gardens or other PHS Public Gardens this summer to ditch the heat and be transported to a cool, lush, garden oasis!
July 29 – The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s (PHS) Pop Up Gardens and other PHS Public Gardens and Landscapes are now in full bloom across the region, offering the perfect Heatwave Haven for those looking to escape the heat this summer.
PHS Pop Up Gardens
The PHS Pop Up Gardens on South Street and in Manayunk offer a full lineup of refreshing, cold cocktails, mocktails, rainbow-hued frozen drinks, shotsicles (an alcoholic twist on the popsicle!), along with delicious snacks. Bask in the sunshine or enjoy covered and shaded areas throughout the gardens. Plus, both gardens now have TVs installed, making these gardens the perfect venues for your Phillies or Summer Olympics watch party!
Stop by the Manayunk Pop Up Garden and enjoy a woodland-inspired plant palate, game room including foosball and Pop-a-Shot, and plenty of shaded seating. Or, stop by the South Street Pop Up Garden in Center City and take in the beauty of lush, tropical-inspired plantings, a covered pergola, and shade sails to keep cool.
Both gardens also offer a lineup of special events and horticulture-focused classes, perfect for anyone looking to get their hands in the dirt this season or make a unique craft. Additionally, The Pop Up Gardens will be running a special promotional contest in the weeks leading up to the Olympics, inviting guests to vote for their favorite cocktails. Follow @PHSPopUpGardens on Instagram and Facebook in the weeks leading up to the Olympics to submit your vote and see which drink takes Gold, then, visit the PHS Pop Up Gardens during the first week of the Olympic Games to enjoy the winning cocktail at a special discounted rate.

Keep cool at PHS Public Gardens and Landscapes
Rodin Museum - PHS’s gardens along the exterior of the Rodin Museum offer another excellent venue to seek out sun, shade, or a seated respite while exploring Philadelphia’s iconic Ben Franklin Parkway this summer. Enjoy all that this stunning museum has to offer and take in the beauty of PHS plantings which have recently undergone renovation and feature updated gardens throughout. The Rodin Museum gardens feature a combination of French floral elements mixed with a cottage garden aesthetic and features a variety of perennial pollinator plants including Hydrangea arborescens, Hosta ‘Empress Wu’, and Echinacea pallida, alongside other stunning perennial varieties suited for both shade and sun. The Rodin Museum also opens its Garden Bar from 4-8:30pm on Friday evenings, making it a perfect venue for your next night out.
Azalea Garden - For those seeking a green summer shade garden, the Azalea Garden offers plenty of tree-covered shade, lush green plantings, and annuals, making it the perfect backdrop for picnicking. Bring your blanket, snacks, and experience this beautiful garden tucked behind the Philadelphia Museum of Art!
PHS Meadowbrook Farm - Venture just outside the city to experience PHS Meadowbrook Farm, PHS’s picturesque gardens featuring a historic estate. This stunning property features several unique garden “rooms” with a cottagecore aesthetic, making it the perfect venue for a Bridgerton-inspired photoshoot. With many shady enclaves and trees throughout the gardens, this is a stunning venue for beating the heat and enjoying a little bit of magic outside the hustle and bustle of the city.
PHS will also be holding monthly garden tours of Meadowbrook Farm, providing guests with an in-depth horticultural experience touring the property’s diverse and beautiful gardens. Plus, tours will explore the 1st floor of the property’s estate house, offering guests the ability to experience gardens from original viewpoints inside the house.
