Harvest 2020

Harvest2020_Final-Hero

Harvest 2020 is a new PHS program focused on addressing growing hunger and food insecurity in the Philadelphia region.

PHS is asking our powerful community to dig in and plant more food crops this year with extra to share.

Our goal is to mobilize 100,000 people to grow and share 5 million pounds of fresh produce – for ourselves, our families, our communities and local food pantries.

Everyone is welcome to learn and grow with us.

The Need

  • Almost 12% of households in the Greater Philadelphia region suffer from food insecurity.

  • Before COVID-19, 1 in 5 Philadelphia residents did not have access to three meals a day.

  • Food pantries need fresh produce this season, with demand having increased by up to 3x times since 2019.

  • Harvest 2020 will mobilize 100,000 people to grow food for themselves and their communities, reducing our reliance on conventional food systems.
