Fertilizing

Fertilizing houseplants can scare novice gardeners, but there’s no need to shy away from this step. Watch and learn how easy and productive it can be— if you follow a couple of basic rules. Most importantly, be sure to read the directions on your fertilizer, as different brands have different requirements for feeding frequency and dilution.

Watch Cristina Tessaro, Associate Director, PHS Pop Up Gardens, perform a brief fertilizer demonstration on her China Doll, a beautiful, bushy, houseplant that is happy with bright, indirect light and a regular soaking of its roots.
