The 2026 PHS Philadelphia Flower Show returns as a premier destination for garden design, floral artistry, and horticultural innovation, bringing together world-class designers, emerging talent, and beloved returning exhibitors.

“This year’s theme, Rooted: Origins of American Gardening, reflects the heart of PHS’s mission connecting people and plants to transform lives and communities,” says Matt Rader, President of PHS. “Every plant and garden tells a story. The Flower Show celebrates those stories while serving as a fundraiser to support PHS’s year-round work in the Philadelphia region to create green spaces, expand access to fresh food, and foster neighborhood resilience and community health."

From landmark featured exhibitions and internationally acclaimed florists to student designers, first-time exhibitors, and returning favorites, the 2026 Flower Show offers a rich tapestry of perspectives that honor the past while inspiring the future. Get a sneak peek at some of the exciting exhibits to look out for at the Show!

American Landscape Showcase: 250 Years of Gardening in the United States

At the heart of the 2026 Flower Show is the American Landscape Showcase, a special exhibition celebrating America’s 250th anniversary. This ambitious installation reflects on how gardening has shaped communities, expressed cultural identity, and demonstrated resilience across centuries of American history.

As Partner and Co-founder Claire Agre of Unknown Studio notes, “The American Garden as an artform embodies a long cultural conversation between ecosystem, colonialism, migration, and the cross-pollination of ideas. American gardening reflects a reciprocal relationship with the natural world: we need nature, but more importantly, nature needs us.”

Through four distinct gardens, the Showcase highlights the roots, traditions, and evolving practices of American gardening, interpreted through a contemporary design lens.

Featured Designers

Four world-renowned designers bring their unique perspectives to this milestone exhibition:

Each garden offers a thoughtful interpretation of American gardening traditions, exploring how land, people, and plants have interacted over 250 years to create the landscapes we recognize today.

The Showcase is made possible by the City of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Funder Collaborative for the Semiquincentennial.

International Florists at the 2026 Philadelphia Flower Show

Four acclaimed international florists will present “First Bloom – Rooted in Memory,” a compelling exhibition where designers reflect on the origin moments that sparked their passion for flowers.

As featured designer Gábor Nagy shares, “My personal first bloom experience was in my childhood. I have very nice family memories about trips in nature—the colors, forms, and shapes enchanted me all the time. My favorite flower is the dandelion; it connects very strongly to that childhood period, filled with unforgettable memories. I always made bouquets from the garden flowers for my mom. I think that was the time when I fell in love with floristry.” His design for the Philadelphia Flower Show is inspired by those sweet childhood memories, underscoring the deeply personal roots that unite the exhibition.

Through world-class artistry and innovative design, each florist offers visitors an intimate glimpse into their personal journeys and creative processes.

Growing the Future: Student & Educational Exhibitors

Local educational exhibitors shine a spotlight on the next generation of horticultural professionals. Designed and built by students, these exhibits blend traditional gardening practices with modern approaches to sustainability, plant science, and design.

Check out these exhibits to encounter heirloom seeds and culturally significant plants, explore how historic gardens continue to inspire innovation, and experience floral designs that bridge art and horticulture. Each exhibit reflects hands-on learning, experimentation, and the passing of knowledge, offering a hopeful glimpse into the future of American gardening.

Student Spotlight: Delaware Valley University

Delaware Valley University presents a visually striking exhibit honoring Carl Linnaeus, the father of taxonomy. The installation traces the journey of a single plant species through a pyramid of discovery and classification, highlighting Linnaeus’s use of Latin as a universal language for identifying plants and animals. The exhibit celebrates scientific curiosity while emphasizing the enduring importance of plant classification in horticulture today

First-Time Exhibitor Spotlight

Rachel Cho Floral Design

First-time exhibitor Rachel Cho Floral Design debuts “Rooted Reflection,” a bold and immersive display where vibrant blooms erupt from mirrored surfaces. The mirrors create a dynamic interplay of light and reflection, acting as portals between past and present, self and ancestry. The exhibit invites visitors to explore both personal and shared roots—those that shape not only our gardens, but our lives.

Design Under the Sky

First-time exhibitor Design Under The Sky presents “DENCE,” a thought-provoking installation that reframes the wild and overlooked. Plants commonly found thriving in urban cracks and margins, often dismissed as weeds, are carefully composed into a classical, orderly garden. Through deliberate structure and attentive care, the display elevates these resilient species, inviting visitors to reconsider beauty, value, and intention in the cultivated landscape. “DENCE” celebrates the quiet elegance of the under-appreciated and the transformative power of stewardship.

Returning Favorite Exhibitors at the Flower Show

AIFD

The American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) returns to the Flower Show to present a compelling installation that illustrates how deeply rooted foundations empower communities to flourish. The exhibit visually represents AIFD’s enduring legacy, showcasing how connection and belonging, both across the U.S. and worldwide, stem from strong roots in nature and horticultural expertise.

Simply Nia Design

Simply Nia Design returns with an exhibit centered on connection. As designer Nia Mozee describes it, “connection to me is about building community—community can be family or friends. These are the chosen people who you can be your authentic self and you are accepted and vice versa.” Grounded in this philosophy, the installation explores how personal and ecological roots inform the spaces we cultivate and the relationships we nurture, offering a thoughtful and emotionally resonant experience.

Susan Cohan Gardens

Susan Cohan Gardens returns with “Kindred Spirit,” honoring the design principles of Martha Brookes Hutcheson, a pioneering landscape architect from over a century ago. The exhibit celebrates Hutcheson’s use of native plants and her approach to blending agriculture with designed gardens, bridging past and present horticultural practices.

Men’s Garden Club of Philadelphia

The Men’s Garden Club of Philadelphia presents a garden celebrating the beauty and complexity of natural root systems. Suspended planters and hanging plant material draw the eye upward, while sculptural stumps with exposed roots add earthy texture. Two Dawn Redwood trees anchor the space with textured trunks, distinctive branching, and vibrant orange foliage—creating a living link to the deep history of the natural world.

Jennifer Designs

Returning after winning Best in Show – Floral (2025), Jennifer Designs presents “Rooted in Love,” an immersive theatrical garden inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. The exhibit explores the intersection of horticulture and literature, using plants and flowers as symbols of love, conflict, and tradition, while demonstrating their power to create emotionally rich and meaningful environments.
