PHS Legacy Society Members will join the staff members and students from Lakeside School, to further learn about the school's activities and evolutions since hearing from them at the Legacy Society Breakfast at the Philadelphia Flower Show in March.

Guests will also learn about PHS Meadowbrook Farm’s period of rest and renewal, the rich legacy of PHS Meadowbrook Farm, and its storied relationship to PHS. Both talks will culminate in discussion of how Lakeside and PHS Meadowbrook Farm contribute to the future of gardening and horticulture.

PHS Vice President of Horticulture, Andrew Bunting, will be your guide through the house and history room at PHS Meadowbrook Farm. After the talk and tour, guests will travel a short distance to enjoy lunch at The Copper Crow Restaurant.

Note: This event is by special Invitation for PHS Legacy Society members only.

The Legacy: PHS Meadowbrook Farm is a 21-acre property bequeathed to The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society in 2004 by J. Liddon Pennock, Jr., a renowned florist of Pennock Brothers Florists. A series of unique, outdoor “Garden Rooms” make up PHS Meadowbrook Farm. Formal gardens, a large display garden, pollinator garden, xeric garden, cacti and succulent garden, rain garden, rock garden, and more offer changing interest throughout the year.

The Future: The Lakeside School Horticulture & Landscaping Program is dedicated to cultivating the future. Essential to the curriculum is the trauma-informed approach to education. The Lakeside School Greenhouse provides a vital learning and therapeutic opportunity for students. Students working in Lakeside's Horticulture and Landscaping Program gain both knowledge and skills while developing confidence and pride as they see the fruits of their labors. Students are learning they can redefine the rest of their lives!

The Nourishment: The owners of The Copper Crow chose a crow for the restaurant as a symbol of good things to come. As the crow represents the future, it’s a staunch reminder to all at The Cooper Crow to lead the way in culinary trends and constantly transform the restaurant’s approach to the modern American restaurant.
