know to grow
Most gardeners know the joy—and ecological importance—of welcoming monarch butterflies and caterpillars into the garden. But what if we looked beyond milkweed and designed for the full cast of pollinators?
In this eye-opening presentation, we’ll explore the remarkable diversity of pollinators at work in our landscapes, including some of the smaller, stranger, and far less charismatic insects that often go unnoticed. We’ll take a closer look at specialist pollinators—insects with remarkably specific relationships with particular plants—and discover how the plants we choose can invite these fascinating creatures into our gardens. Lastly, we'll explore how we can better support this unique group of insects through their entire lifecycle as well.
Come away with a new appreciation for the pollinators you may not even realize are visiting, along with ideas for plants you can add to your own landscape to create a garden that supports a much wider and more fascinating community of insects.
PHS is delighted to present the Know to Grow Webinar Series, a vibrant and inclusive program designed to nurture your love for gardening. This reimagined lecture series welcomes everyone, from seasoned gardeners to those with a budding curiosity about the plant world.
PHS's Vice President of Horticulture, Andrew Bunting, will moderate the discussion.
