Step inside the pages of PHS history for an intimate afternoon of rare books, horticultural treasures, and afternoon tea.
Join PHS Librarian, Janet Evans, for a special look at some of the library’s remarkable rare books and the stories they hold. Janet will share fascinating insights into the history of the McLean Library, its collections, and nearly 200 years of PHS history.
Guests will then have the rare opportunity to view these treasured books up close. Founded in 1828, just one year after PHS, the McLean Library has been a home for horticultural knowledge and PHS history for nearly two centuries. Its name itself reflects the lasting impact of a generous legacy gift, a fitting reminder of how Members and supporters can help preserve PHS’s history for generations to come.
Following the presentation and book viewing, we’ll gather in PHS Town Hall for afternoon tea, coffee, and pastries. This will be a chance to continue the conversation, share your own connections and curiosities, and discuss the books and stories you’ve just discovered with fellow guests.
