PHS McLean Library
members only
Join Andrew Bunting, PHS Vice President of Horticulture, on a scenic trip up the Hudson River to Untermeyer Gardens in Yonkers and Wave Hill in The Bronx. At Untermeyer, renowned gardeners Timothy Tilghman and Drew Schuyler will give an in-depth tour. Created in 1917 by Samuel and Minnie Untermeyer, this 43-acre public garden combines exceptional horticulture, monumental architecture, and multicultural design in a majestic natural setting overlooking the Hudson River.
From Untermeyer we will head south to Wave Hill, an estate turned public garden perched above the Hudson River with magnificent views. Today, Wave Hill is one of America’s premier public gardens, boasting provocative designs and plantsmanship. Cathy Deutsch, Director of Horticulture, will give us a detailed tour of Wave Hill’s gardens.
A light breakfast and coffee will be served in the McLean Library at PHS prior to departure, and lunch will be served upon arrival to Wave Hill. The shuttle for the tour will depart from and return to PHS at 100 N. 20th Street in Philadelphia.
Don’t miss this chance to visit these incredible gardens!
PHS's very own Vice President of Horticulture, Andrew Bunting, will provide commentary on the shuttle. At Untermeyer you will enjoy a tour with renowned gardeners Timothy Tilghman and Drew Schuyler. And, at Wave Hill guests will enjoy a tour with their Director of Horticulture, Cathy Deutsch.
