Green City Teachers

The PHS Green City Teachers program provides Philadelphia educators with the skills to integrate horticultural and environmental education into curricula, after-school programs, and service-learning projects. Teachers, individuals, parents, gardeners, and informal educators are invited to participate.

The fall five-session course offers a forum for sharing ideas and helps students appreciate the role of nature in their lives. Topics include basic horticulture, water, soil and composting, indoor gardening, and choosing the right plants. The summer two-day workshop focuses on building a school garden. Act 48 credit is available.

Upcoming session will be listed below far in advance. If you do not see any listed, please try back soon.

Green City Teachers is supported by the following funders:

GlaxoSmithKline
The Hamilton Family Foundation
The William M. King Charitable Foundation
Lincoln Financial Foundation
Schiel Family Foundation
Subaru of America Foundation, Inc.
